Who leaves a killer bear on the table? It’s alive, I swear!
I do, didn’t I just say that? It’s not alive, Lucy. Why do you think it’s alive?
I went into the kitchen and he was there on the counter staring at me.
Well, maybe I just left it there. Didn’t think of that, did you?
Mr. Squiggles is not stalking you, Luce.
“For being the best girlfriend in the world.” Ethan smiled a sweet, goofy smile as he tied the balloon to the teddy bears arm before setting it down on the table next to the cupcakes. His heart raced a bit when he felt Kelly’s arms wrap around his waist. He closed his eyes and rested his head on the top of her’s. They stood there like that for just a moment before she pulled away. The smile never wore off Ethan’s face, however. He just merely kissed her upon the forehead before speaking. “Sure, we can do that. Not before we dig into these cupcakes though. I’ve been waiting to eat these ever since I got them!” He smiled as he grabbed the box and headed towards the kitchen, grabbing some napkins and opening the box. “One for you, and one for me.” He set them on the counter and grabbed forks, for they were too big to eat without them. He looked over to Kelly and simply winked before taking the first bite of the cake. He then made a silly face as his mouth filled with the delicious cupcake.
The blonde simply raised an eyebrow at her boyfriend’s facial expressions and shook her head before taking a seat on one of the chairs beside the island, picking up her fork and beginning to eat the cupcake. “So, where’d you disappear off to? It feels like forever since I last saw you.” Kelly questioned him, casting her eyes over to look at him as she continued to eat the cupcake, awaiting his answer.
After the two had finished their late night snacks, they made their way into the living room to start their movie night. As she gestured Ethan to take a seat on the couch, she moved over to sit in front of the stack of DVD’s. The blonde picked up a couple out of the stack, looking through them for a movie. “Hey, what movie was it that you said you wanted to watch sometime? I’ll check if I have it here, if not, I’ll just check Netflix then.” Kelly asked, glancing up from the stack of DVD’s she was looking at and knitting her eyebrows together in questioning. She knew that he probably would’ve offered to watch whatever she wanted to— Which happened a lot when they had movie nights— So she decided to let him choose this time. The eighteen year old sat there, DVD’s scattered around her, as she waited for his reply to her question.
Let’s play “Never Have I Ever”. Cross out all of the things that you have done. You might just see that there are people just like you out there.
As soon as he rang that doorbell, Ethan felt like an idiot. She was probably going to think he’s an idiot, or think that all the gifts he had brought were stupid. He was having an internal war with himself, and he thought about just turning around right then and there and leaving. But at that moment, the front door opened and he saw her face. The face he had always loved; the eyes, the nose, even her chin. Seeing her at the door instantly made him forget about the war waging inside of him and a huge smile came across his face.
“I thought that maybe we could have a little celebration, you know, uh…it’s not too stupid, is it?” He laughed it off as he entered the house, setting the small box of cupcakes on the small table to the right of the door. “I hope you’re not too busy. I was actually supposed to go into the city with my dad today for a baseball game, but he got called into work. I thought it’d be the perfect opportunity to surprise you.” He smiled as he held out the teddy bear to her. “It’s not much, but I thought you’d like it.” Ethan wanted to say more, but was afraid of talking too much and ruining this already awkward conversation.
“Celebration? For what?” The blonde tilted her head slightly, raising an eyebrow as a smile began to play on her face. Kelly glanced down at the cupcakes Ethan sat down on the table before looking back at him once again, pursing her lips together to stop the wide grin that began to form on her face. The whole effort he made to show up at her house in the middle of the night and with gifts - The whole idea was adorable to her and so like Ethan. “I love it, it’s cute.” The blonde commented before moving closer to him and wrapping her arms his waist. Kelly rested her head against his chest and sighed contently as she felt his arms wrap around her in response. It’d been a while since Kelly had been in his embrace, and she forgot how great it felt. After a couple of moments, the blonde pulled away from Ethan, her arms still wrapped around his waist, and tilted her head up to look at him. “So.. Do you want to watch a movie or something?” She questioned, slightly biting the inside of her lip as she awaited his answer.
